BOW MAKING

historical bass bowsHistorical Bass Bows

For years I searched unsuccessfully for a great Baroque bass bow, and finally decided to make my own. Since 2012 I have been making bass bows in my Basel workshop, with customers that include players and teachers from the Tonhalle Orchester, Indiana University, Basel Sinfonietta, Brigham Young University, Nashville Symphony, Musik Akademie der Stadt Basel and others.

Having worked with Scott Wallace in Vienna, I’ve developed what I feel is a successful bow for continuo and solo playing on gut or steel strings. Bows are made to order, as my desire is always to meet the needs of the individual player. French, German, and G-Violone models are available in Canadian Rock Maple and Snakewood.
